GUSD Enrollment

Welcome to Gilroy Unified School District’s enrollment process for new students entering Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Before proceeding, please consult the GUSD School Locator map to ensure you enroll you student in the school corresponding to your address.

Online registration for GUSD schools is ongoing.

Use the below link to fill out the GUSD Online Enrollment form. The online process will require uploading additional documents.

There are a number of required documents that must be uploaded as part of the online enrollment process. Please review these School Registration Requirements.

To begin, click the “Enroll A New Student” button. You will be directed to create a username and password which will enable you to also log in at a later time if you do not complete the enrollment process in one session.

If you have already started this process or are a returning user and need to complete, review or print your information, click the “Login” button.

Physical Packet enrollment (for families unable to use the online enrollment system)

Print (using the buttons below) or pick-up a registration packet and manila envelope at a your neighborhood school by making an appointment.

Return the completed registration packet and copies of the required additional documents into the manila envelope to the same school.

You must make an appointment to pick up and return registration packets at all GUSD schools.

What is transitional kindergarten (TK)?

Created by the 2010 California law called the Kindergarten Readiness Act, and offered across the state, transitional kindergarten (TK) is an exciting educational opportunity to prepare children for kindergarten. TK offers children with birthdays from September to February a developmentally appropriate curriculum taught by credentialed teachers from K-12.

Transitional kindergarten bridges the path between preschool and kindergarten and gives students the gift of time that will help them build a strong foundation for future school success. It blends social and emotional experience with academic learning, so that students not only learn essential pre-literacy, pre-math, and other cognitive skills, but also develop social and self-regulation skills needed to succeed in school and life.

By state statute, the maximum school day in kindergarten is four hours (EC 46110). Can my child repeat kindergarten?

Under EC sections 48010 and 48011, a child who has been admitted to kindergarten in a private or public school in California or any other state and who has completed one year in that school shall be admitted to the first grade of an elementary school unless the parent and the school agree that the child should continue kindergarten (for not more than an additional school year).
